Description
SWAGY STRONG is built with a tapered wire construction that balances durability with enhanced vibration transfer. The lower arm uses a thicker wire diameter to reduce extension at the moment of hooking and boost hook-up rates. The upper arm is sized to transmit blade vibrations to the rod with ease, improving angler feel and bite detection.
When the SWAGY STRONG comes into play!
The original SWAGY was effective to roughly 1 m depth with a 3/8 oz head and to about 2 m with a 1/2 oz head.
The SWAGY STRONG extends that reach: the 5/8 oz version can be fished down to around 3 m, while the 3/4 oz model performs reliably at depths of 4 m and deeper.
Unlike most conventional heavyweight spinnerbaits, which grow in silhouette and bulk as weight increases, SWAGY STRONG maintains the same profile and volume even as the head weight rises — allowing longer casts and deeper presentations without changing the lure’s action or appearance.
The double-willow blade configuration reduces buoyancy compared with single-blade designs, making SWAGY STRONG especially useful for highly active fish that have moved into deep water during summer stratification, and for fish that are aware of natural bait but are particular about the lure’s depth and travel during late-fall turnovers.
Its inherent stability also makes it suitable for challenging conditions such as fishing inside strong currents or employing very fast retrieves when fish ignore a normal paced presentation.
Basic usage and curve roll techniques for catching fish
The basic steady retrieve used with the original SWAGY series remains effective, but when targeting deeper strata with spinnerbaits we suggest pairing the lure’s presentation with active blade control.
Use the spinnerbait to reach the desired depth band. When the lure touches the target depth, don’t simply let it free-fall with no tension: after it lands, quickly remove slack line and allow the bait to fall while keeping slight tension so the blade continues to spin. This method encourages strikes from fish holding in suspension or from those positioned shallower than the retrieve path.
Thanks to its heavy head and high-spinning blades, SWAGY STRONG readily produces curving and rolling actions. While it excels on deep retrieves, deliberately inducing curve-rolls broadens the lure’s effective window — letting you work more varied depths, cover a wider range of conditions, and target different fish behaviors.
