Action transfer: Changing the blank’s taper from regular to fast action increases the speed and fidelity of angler input. This means less effort is necessary to make your Megabass jerkbait dart and flash, and subtle rod manipulations are conveyed with higher precision, adding nuanced movement to your presentation. The blank improvements also reduce unwanted oscillation—the rod returns to center-rest more quickly after each twitch—so the JERKBAIT SPECIAL provides a cleaner, more immediate connection that lets you exploit the lure’s full range of motion.

Balance and feel: With the balance point positioned at the reel, the rod pivots with minimal resistance. You won’t be fighting blank weight when delivering delicate slack-line taps to hold a Vision Oneten in place, nor will you fatigue as quickly when running an aggressive cadence through long practice sessions or tournament days.

Casting: In cold-water situations where jerkbaits often excel, long casts help avoid spooking pressured pre-spawn fish. By shortening the rear grip and extending overall length from 6’8” to 6’11”, the JERKBAIT SPECIAL uses more blank length to add distance. Coupled with the faster taper, a powerful, technical cast loads deeper into the blank and stores more energy for longer, more accurate shots.

Sensitivity: Many pre-spawn strikes are picked up as tiny ticks on your line, so detection is critical.
