Utilizing Shimano’s proprietary Spiral-X and Hi-Power X technologies, these rods strike an ideal balance of featherweight construction, raw strength, and precise control. Spiral-X is produced from multiple layers of carbon tape that are tightly wrapped diagonally in alternating directions around the blank, creating exceptional torsional stiffness without added mass. The result is a highly responsive blank that transmits power instantly when casting large musky lures and delivers superior handling when battling trophy-sized fish. Spiral-X blanks are 250% more structurally rigid and 180% less prone to twisting than conventional blank designs, providing a clear edge when those giants make an appearance. For convenience in transport and storage, two-piece variants employ a rigid butt-joint that inserts the rod section directly into the handle at the top of the foregrip, preserving a seamless action and strength comparable to a one-piece rod.
